BACK TO ARKANSAS

1973: After an extended adolescence in Mexico,  Lenora and I returned to the Arkansas, got married and attempted to become normal business people, to the great relief of my parents and grandparents. We bought a small sawmill and proceeded to begin cutting the Mobley Lumber Company timber that had been growing since the company had ceased operation in 1960

FIRST ATTEMPT AT NORMALCY...

Our sawmill in the woods with sawyer, Doyle Coles.

Me, at about 23 years old, working on and standing in front of our first effort at hip construction; the little dome.... truly a triumph of energy and imagination over good sense.

The little dome when completed.

Made on a Mac

This was before we had the sawmill. We built this from lumber salvaged from a Mexican restaurant: “El Casa Bandito”. I expect it went out of business because their Mexican food was about as bad as their Mexican grammar.
